We haven't had a minute to breath so we are so sorry it took us so long to update this section. We really enjoy bench work and slack off with updating the news section of our site.
We've been working on many new upgrades for radios recently. We recently hired a entry level tech who preps radios for the technical dept. Ismael is working out VERY well, his soldering skills have been a asset to our team. He's now in charge of building all in house made splash guards.
Brand new radios from the factory have been coming in like gang busters with all sorts of issues. Be cautious if your buying:
The Connex 366CE, Connex 3400HP, or 3600HP as of late. These radios have had a rash of dead batteries in them from the box or dying shortly thereafter. There is several ways to fix this issue. The factory was been putting in tiny batteries to small to do the job. We have been charging a nominal charge to upgrade the battery to one that is 12x longer lasting (when the battery from the factory is actually working correctly) then the one installed from the factory. The upgraded battery isn't just a pop in the new one and your done. But its worth the small fee for your battery not to go dead. MAKE SURE YOU ASK ABOUT UPGRADING THE BATTERY ON YOUR NEW CX!
The newest RCI 2970N2, Galaxy 98VHP and (more) ****Major fet issues.**** The lot of fets the factory has been using have been HUGE problems. The factory knows of the issues with the fets but cranks up the bias voltage to compensate for the bad fets. They also have been doing other things to compensate. These radios are ticking time bombs. We have been replacing all the fets with new special order matched new ones. This upgrade has worked out VERY well, however isn't cheap for us to do. The upgraded fets are a little more expensive then normal fets, but the major expense is replacing them is very time consuming. The upgraded fets that we use are a MAJOR upgrade, and make this radio work AWESOME with "ZERO" fet issues. We highly suggest this upgrade, its a major difference. The radios leave with much greater power and performance then the factory transistors. Radios leaving without this upgrade on this production run have been often failing quickly. We hope this lot of fets will disappear soon, but its still going to be a problem for awhile. But till then our customers are getting perfect results then those radios bought at shops that aren't swapping out the fets with those of the same production. We have been getting in a ton of radios from buyers purchased elsewhere. Swapping out all 8 fets isn't cheap or easy but people buy from RadioActive Radios when they simply want it done right the first time. As with all fets (good or bad) make sure your SWR is below 1.3. Make sure you add the static protection upgrade on radios without protection from the factory. Bad coax, high swr, static electricity, bad jumpers, and leaving junky "cb" type meters inline are all major causes of fet failure. These radios are still on the "gotta have one" list, but upgrade the fets and sit back and enjoy a radio done right by, "RadioActiveRadios.com"
Variable Resistors have been a huge issue with many brands lately. They have been coming in defective or have been failing much sooner then they should be. We have counteracted this problem with replacing the known bad pots right off the bad with upgraded aftermarket ones that work much better. This service is included in the price of a new radio.
The good news on the home front is the new MX-36 has been a winner. This radio also uses a battery however the battery they opt to out in it is the correct size. We look forward to seeing the new line up from Mirage. The MX-36 has been selling well, and we're hearing more and more good news about it.
Connex just released the new CX-4400 Turbo. The amp deck is fet based, and they added 2 more bands. Another connex winner. As a technical shop that specializes in redesigning the connex rf decks rest assure your new connex will be bodacious with our SuperWackPack Phase II.

Been wondering why its been taking so long for us to complete your repairs on your 10 m radios or cb radios sent in for service? Well the wait times are the bad news but the good news outweighs it! First during the normal course of a year, every week we get in tons of radios to be serviced that people bought elsewhere and were greatly displeased. As a matter of fact repairs/mods on radios sold elsewhere is on of the largest parts of the technical dept daily jobs. People hear our radios on the airwaves and know that they want their 10 meter radios or cb radios to sound like that "BIG RadioActive Radio!" So we get in many radios for upgrades, some brand new that the customer bought someplace and disliked it greatly, some have been to "10" different shops, some just plain oldies but goodies. Others send us in what simply "can't be fixed" a technical challenge the we personally love. (nothing better then fixing what other shops said cant be fixed)
Well the holiday season of 2009 caught us off guard. We were slammed over the holidays selling the best 10m radios on the airwaves. Then January came and the busiest season of all came around and sales shot up through the roof. What did we do?
Well last fall we spent a small fortune in upgrading our main techs bench with the newest and most advanced technical equipment on the market. We wanted in a "bad economy" to be prepared to start producing the next generation of SuperWackPacked 10 meter radios and cb radios, making the fall/winter of 2009 a stellar time for advancing technical service.
Then in Feb of 2010 we hired a new additional tech that we've been training nightly. This training has slowed us down alot. We will not allow a single thing not even a mic wiring to go out the door without Sammy SuperNova checking it twice. Between being busy in sales and already backlogged from the holidays, and training we had to toss something else in the mix. Whats this??? We opted to open a much bigger building for our technical dept since we've out grown the current one and are planning some really neat new products that will require more space. (details to come!) So we are swamped, training a additional tech, being busy in sales, and backlogged for radios that customers bought elsewhere and want to turn them into something awesome. Mr.RadioActive has been working around the clock to keep up in the tech dept, and help them as well as training our new office manager and overseeing all aspects of the company.
The good news is we expect to soon get caught up. And re-open the floodgates of radios coming in. We have the newest technical equipment, more space and more man power then ever before. After all is said and done, we'll be getting radios sent in for service back to their owners faster then ever before. New custom 10m radio and cb radio orders will be getting on the airwaves faster! Our newest equipment will ensure our place as the #1 technical shop on the planet. We look forward to all the advancements and greatly appreciate the patience of some of our customers who sent us in equipment sent in for service. We're sorry about the wait times, but sooner then later we'll be faster and better then ever before. We are hoping to have our "move" for the technical dept done but mid march. This move will NOT SLOW DOWN new 10m radio orders nor cb radios from leaving. We've been 100% on schedule. The massive part of the move will be done on weekends. We have had NO delays on new orders nor anticipate any. We only expect new orders and repairs to get done faster then ever before.....so keep tuned in! The #1 technical shop on planet earth is gearing up!
02-08-2010 RadioActiveRadios.com in espanol is coming soon! The spanish speaking market is a very important market for us. However not having spanish speaking staff has made it difficult for us to help these important customers.
Soon our spanish customers will be better served by us translating our entire site in spanish. We now have a new office manager "Virginia" that will be able to handle calls in spanish. While she's fluent in spanish we'll be catching her up to speed soon about the technical side of what we do so she can handle technical calls in spanish better. Till then she'll be working on catching the office up to speed, and getting us more organized. 2010 will be a year of many improvements for RadioActiveRadios.com
We look forward to serving the spanish market better, and look greatly forward to working with our newest member of our team Virginia.
08-12-2009 ATTENTION WHOLESALE BUYERS: We will meet or beat (usually we can beat!) any competitor found online for stock "untouched, factory sealed" radios shipped direct to the door. Warranties on stock radio equipment are through the manufacturer only. Buy 1 piece or 100, RadioActiveRadios.com does it all! If you find it lower than us, give us a link to where its less and we'll match or beat it providing the radio is in stock.
05-22-2009 Do you have radios that are blown up, "can't be fixed" that you're getting ready to toss in the trash? We are seeking all your blown up 10m radios! Connex, Galaxy, SuperStar, Magnum, and RCI! If you have any radios/amps that you'd like to turn into some cash, let us know what you got. The more blown up the better!
01-09-2009 We are thinking about offering a mod that we'd like some feedback on. A real Radio Alarm installed in the radio. Many radios are stolen each day from truck stops. We've been engineering a new radio alarm. The alarm will only activate when the radio's power is removed from the radio. Your window gets smashed, the guy cuts the wires, and your alarm starts going off. What we think it will make him drop it in the cab before he gets away with it. You'll have a way of course of turning it on/off so you don't set it off! Let us know, a mod like this we think would run $69-$89 If your talking on a SuperModded $300-$800+ radio, is $69 too much to protect it? Let us know!
01-09-2009 We'd like to introduce yet more modifications to our modification page. On the horizon we will be offering some new very custom mods well. We strive to keep on the top of all technical shops, and are always brainstorming for new, fresh ideas. RadioActive Radios isn't the type of shop satisfied with just another tune up. We like bringing fresh ideas to the table. Quality is what we do. If you happen to check out the picture of the nitro knobed 2995DX that was for a special handicapped customer. (enjoy sir you have one awesome radio to be proud of!)
01-08-2009 WE WILL BE OFFERING ENGRAVING SERVICES FOR ALL NEW RADIO ACTIVE RADIOS FOR ONLY $4.95 Why? And what will it include? Well we'll engrave the circuit board with your name, or serial #, and a some standard info if you'd want like a cell phone #. We will also engrave the outer chassis case. Why? Too many radios are stolen each day by some bums at the truck stops. Many of these radios end up at shops and are resold for huge profits. We will retain your S/Ns on file in case your radio is ever stolen!
12-01-2008 We'd like to introduce our new shipping manager Josh. Josh is the newest member of the RadioActive Radio team. Josh is taking the lead to ensure your items are packaged well, and shipped on time. He will be overseeing all aspects of shipping. He will also be on the phones from time to time. Give him a welcome, as we're proud to have him here.
11-09-2008 We've added more exclusive mods to our modification page. If you have a mod that you'd like to see on our list, let us know. Why do we keep doing this? Well theres two ways to do things in this business. You can spend your time as a shop calling every other shop a hack, or do you real technical service on radios that exposes others all by itself!
10-08-2008 During trying economic times we've found that our customers value quality over "cheap" Most people aren't afraid to spend money, they only want to spend it wisely. We been offering as many "CDL" discounts as possible however? Why? We havent forgotten who's made us a success. Without the strong professional driver customer base we have, we wouldn't be where we are today. Hats off to you men/ladies out there on the big roads keeping life going. "If you've got more then 4 wheels under your butt, your a priority at RadioActive Radios"
08-08-2008 We have made great efforts to focus alot of attention on quality control this summer. Old and new customers will be proud to see things moving forward at RadioActive Radios. Instead of expanding as planned, we have opted to focus our attention to details on what we already do. Some future projects have been put on hold in effort to do what we already do better. We aren't satisfied with just good technical work. We want every single radio that leaves here to be 110% You will get what you pay for here.
07-07-2008 We are now accepting "out of warranty" repairs on all major 10m radio brands, including Galaxy, Connex, General RCI, and SuperStar. Why get your radio just fixed, when you can get it SWPed, and fixed right. Call or email us for details.
05-26-2008 We are very proud to announce a new addition to the RadioActive team. In the mid 1980s through the 1990s you may have heard of a very well known east coast (NJ) shop called GF (Godfathers) CB and Electronics. Radio guys from all over the the east coast would travel to the shop to get their radios "WackPacked", "Variable Talkback" (back in the days long before var talkback was unheard of in exports), and other mods that made us famous. The techs behind the bench was the well known "Sammy-SuperNova" and "Radio Godfather, the now Mr.RadioActive"
We are very proud to announce that Sammy-SuperNova is now BACK WITH RADIOACTIVE and is taking the lead on the bench since May 2008. What can you expect from RadioActive Radios in the future?
Well first Quality Control. Sammy-SuperNova is a man obsessed with making sure every single radio leaving RadioActive is 100% with no exception in perfect working order. Sometimes things happen during shipping however rare that maybe. But each radio will be 100% before it leaves here. Shouldn't this be what everyone expects anyway? Well from RadioActive Radio, the answer is YES. However don't be fooled. Radio shops very commonly do not fully make sure your radio is working 100% before it leaves. This leaves you with unexpected repairs, adjustments, and a lack of performance that you paid for. This is very common in the radio world. The most common scam is the "alignment" While it is true that many new radios benefit from alignments, much of the time new radios are not truely aligned even though you've paid for it. Other places push for upgrades that are not truely needed. You will get what you pay for at RadioActive Radios, thats our 100% promise to you.
Sammy-SuperNova loves Big Watts, and Big Audio. The RCI 2950 type chassis are some of his favorite radios. He also loves Galaxy CB radios, and will be offering tons of mods to upgrade these high quality units as well. We are already seeing more watts, more audio from nearly every chassis over what this website states. We will be trying to upgrade these as we go along! SuperNova eats and sleeps, then dreams radios, so if there is a mod you've gotta have let us know and we'll see what we can do! New updated work is always coming.
Michael-Mr.RadioActive tends to love big audio AM monsters. The General Lee, and other Connex type radios are his favorite. DaveMade amps are on top of the list of loves. Quality 10 meter AM radios prove to be winners time and time again. Between two lovers of monster radios, and a staff that feels the same rest assure RadioActive Radios is your shop for any type chassis you choose! And the updates are coming along!
Starting right away we will also be offering (for those who really just gotta have them) "Galaxy warranty friendly" tune ups. For the weak of heart!
We expect that late 2008 the "MEGA-WACKPACK" will be coming around. We maybe looking for a few "BIG RADIO GUYS" from time to time to purchase some of these early radios to give us your feedback about the new service. The MegaWackPack will be including our "Heavy Duty Package". Many radios have very common repairs that take place because of design flaws built in to the chassis. Our Heavy Duty package will address these issues!
Rumor Mill........ are SuperWackPacked Cobra/Uniden radios in the future? Let us know what you think.
Keep a eye on this page for more updates! We look forward to building your next BIG RADIO!
