Cool 10m Mobile Radios - Connex
4400 Turbo
Why the goofy model #?
The Connex 4400 Turbo As a true connex technical shop we appreciate our close factory relationship with them. Getting prototype units, and information faster then most places helps us keep our competitive edge in redesigning this special chassis. The 4400 Turbo has replaced the Connex 4600T. We were the 4600 Turbos biggest fans, so what do we think about the newer 4400 Turbo? First kinda silly but why does a company revert back to older model numbers for new radios. Wouldn't it make sense that the replacement would be called the 4700 Turbo or something of the sort? Connex did build a very unpopular 4400HP PLEASE DON'T GET IT CONFUSED! Well back to the radio. Most end users would notice few differences in the 4600T and the new 4400 Turbo. The biggest difference is the 4600T had 6 bands while the new 4400T has 8 bands. It that a improvement? Well it is more bands but for most end users the 2 extra bands make no big difference. However hey the cost hasn't gone up a dime to get the extra two so who cares (take all they'll give ya!)! The amp deck has changed as well. No more 2990s, the amp deck has changed to fets transistors. There are a few that will argue the fets are not as good. However electronics techs need to learn to adapt to new technology and stop being so afraid. Fets have been used for a very long time they are by far not any sorta new invention. Next time you talk on your cell phone thank a fet.
This radio can be a affordable monster of the airwaves. It does need to be run using good power wire direct to the battery. We preach it all the time but you'll put a hurting on the "tune/peak" crowd with a SuperWackPack version of our chassis, or even one of our more mild wackpack services for those on tighter budgets. Loud, clean, yet very clear audio and a long life is what to be expected from one of our radios. SuperRx works very well, if your wanting to hear the more sensitive signals. So turn up your mic gain, crank up the echo/reverb and enjoy! Theres a lot that can be done to this chassis to make it your own. From mild to wild the 4400 Turbo is a winner when its done up by RadioActiveRadios. Call one of our product specialists today and order your new Connex 4400 Turbo!
