The new 94HP has finally arrived. Galaxy has now discontinued the Galaxy 99V, and replaced it with the 94HP. While we think Galaxy was wrong discontinuing the 99V leaving a huge gap for dual final radios with freq counters, the 94Hp is still a nice unit.
Some features are a 5 digit freq counter which seem to have replaced the 6 digit freq counter on new radios, in order to make more room for other features.
This radio is also crammed full of other things like echo/reverb, 10kz, var talkback, roger beep and more. Some of the more are, its all modes am/ssb/fm with a big meter. The built in amp is like a Galaxy 98VHP (which got high reviews) but (4) fet finals instead of 8. Why choose or not choose the 94HP? Well if your looking for a radio with alot of features, but don't need 200+ watts this radio maybe the one.
It does approx 110-130 watts pep on am/ssb after the SuperWackPack. (the specs from Galaxy show 100 watts out of the box. DONT BE FOOLED, these are SSB watts, avg watts "talkpower" on AM is super wimpy stock from the box) While PEP means very little our SuperWackPack will get this chassis talk power up 2-3x greater then the avg tune/peak type stuff you'll find. More talkpower is where it's at. Building radios for more talkpower, and not being concerned with PEP is a more difficult way to design a radio, but technical challenges are what we are all about! Again while we are disappointed in Galaxy's decision to stop the 99V, the 94HP is the wave of the future and another good design job from the guys at Galaxy. SuperWackPacked is the way to go however we offer more mild tunes as well.
