The Magnum S9 can be summed up in one short word "FUN"!
We are a little skeptical of RF Limited radios. They're not built like the Connex radios, and don't have as good a name as the Galaxy stuff. But we've got one on the "bench" and its FUN. Of course we've got two mics hooked up to it at once. (Can be interesting!!) The turbo echo is about as long as it gets, maximum annoyance factor here. 8 bands of channels, AM/FM/SSB, and a cool round meter! The blue lights on the 6 digit freq counter, blue light meter, and channel display are really neat and easy to see. Variable power gets you easily matched up to any linear, and if your not a fan of a linear?? Then the 60-70 clean audio WackPacked watts TALK! However always keep in mind we build radios for max talkpower. Radios with equal PEP watts get walked on but our full blown competition redesigned chassis. This one is no exception.
Many people really go for these type of radios with the round meters, and full features. We've sold Magnums since they have come out and have had very few issues. Quality of the chassis has gotten better over the years. Our only gripe is the channel selector feel. We've gotten a lot of Magnums in for service done up by other shops. Common complaints have been poor sounding audio. Boosting audio to loud and clean levels is our speciality. We have even added a switch for:
