Stryker keeps changing with the times and the 447HPC is one of their newer radios. We here at RadioActiveRadios have never been really super fans of Stryker radios. If you liked the SR440 however your going to like the 447HPC. Our main beef with Stryker (magnum circuit boards) is that some of the things they do is awesome, other things are just low end. Chinese built electronics are known for "pretty" but sometimes lack quality. Sometimes! Many shops push these units since in just a few mins the avg screwdriver turner can produce a decent product for a decent price. (kinda like premade pop in the oven cookies!) In the hands of a true technical shop we can turn the mild to wild.
However as a true (on of the last) technical shop, we appreciate quality. So why the mixed review? Lots of features, for a pretty good price doesn't make us push a radio to our loyal customers. But it doesn't turn us away to much either. After we SuperWackPack these chassis let it be known your talking on the best Stryker 447HPC on the airwaves. SuperRx improves its "ears" alot with less noise, more signal. We'd consider this radio to be more for the hobbyist that likes to play on the radio more then use it as a hardcore tool for the big truck. But big truck drivers sometimes like toys as well (so do we from time to time!)
Lets talk features...8 bands, variable power, two roger beeps for twice the annoyance, 10 khz for jumping between certain chns, and the big round meter (personally like the round meter alot reminds us of the old royce radios. We used to install this round meter in RCI 2950s back in the day since they lack analog meters). We DO NOT BUILD radios for peak watts. Why radio shops build radios for peak power is funny but to long of a story for this write up. But the 70-90 watts (without flattopping, very little harmonic content after the SuperWackPack) gives this radio serious talkpower over the airwaves. You get alot of radio for the money,, but sometimes people want less if it equals more in the long run.....we'll let you decide!
