SWR-2T
Why dedicate a entire section to maybe one of the least expensive SWR meters made? Well here's a little scoop, tuning your antenna is very important. But also very misunderstood. Antennas do NOT get matched to radios. In the readers digest condensed SWR story version, antennas get matched for A) Frequency "thats why on cbs they are tuned on Channels 1 and Channel 40" and B) environment "where are the antennas going to be mounted, Mirror Bracket on a Big Truck, Car Roof, Jeep Bumper, Roof of a house, etc." CB Shops love to tell you every time you get a new radio, you must re-tune your antenna, which is false. If they are correct do you ever see them climb the ladder on their shop, and tune their antenna when you bring them a radio for their bench....NO!
Anyway getting back to the meter, it's very important to protect your investment, and make sure your SWRs are good. Bad antennas, mounts, coax (HUGE CAUSE FOR HIGH SWR, AND NOISE, See our coax we sell!), grounds, and other things can make your SWR horrible and you can really damage your radio. Buying a inexpensive SWR meter can really be helpful. Don't be fooled into thinking you need the most expensive one either to get a good measurement. SWR meters are kinda like, tire pressure gauges, do you need a $100 gauge to check tire pressure? Well if you are a Nascar Racer tire pressure maybe that critical, but for the rest of us, its not that critical.
Anyway, getting a inexpensive SWR meter can save you tons of money in the long run, and testing SWR is very easy to do. It can really save your radio from costly repairs. If you bought a new antenna, changed coax, or mounts, think about buying a SWR meter, or go to a qualified shop and get your SWRs checked and set. For more info, just give us a call!
