Why did we opt to hand write a description for this product? Well this is the most asked about in the Texas Star lineup, and the least purchased. Why?

First off, this is a mobile unit, its not for fixed station use (base station). The 1600V is rarely if ever suggested by us for purchase. First they run around $900. If your still reading after that nutty price then I guess keep reading on. Why does Texas Star make a product that expensive is beyond us. Anyway, the 1600V should have at least 160-200 amps of solid DC power to run it. That thing hogs up the amperage! Its also not the best choice 99 out of 100 times. We'd have to give the 1600V a failing grade even though its the most expensive in the line up. Check out the DX 1600, now thats well designed and has been forever! (plus alot less apt to blow up, and costs far less!)
